The Hawaii Independent Physicians Association Webinar Series is provided free of charge to our members. We are very pleased to provide this educational service as part of your membership. Webinars are typically held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from Noon to 1 p.m. HST. The Lilly-Health Education workshop, Diabetes Fundamentals, focuses on foundational knowledge for effective diabetes care management. Facilitated by Lilly-Health Education Consultants, this program includes scenario-based activities that give healthcare providers, and staff, the opportunity to analyze patient situations and apply their knowledge to patient and family caregiver interactions. It is designed to help participants learn how to effectively engage patients in identifying and achieving their diabetes self-management goals.

Lifestyle management
Diabetes complications
American Diabetes Association – standards of care guidelines.

Presenter: Nancy Njuguna, BPharm, MBA

Nancy Njuguna, BPharm, MBA, Consultant-Health Education, US Medical is currently employed by Eli Lilly and Company as the Health Education Consultant supporting Diabetes. The Health Education team is a group of medical professionals within US Medical that provides non-branded non-promotional patient education disease state materials aligned with health literacy and clear communication principles in the areas where Lilly has expertise. These materials are designed to engage, educate and empower patients to be active in the management of their health and improve intervention outcomes. They also seek to partner with external customers in engaging their patients, through various initiatives.
Nancy has taken on multiple various roles prior to this. They include psychiatric (in/outpatient, forensic and child) and HIV/AIDS clinical pharmacy practice, various global health consulting assignments, diabetes outcomes liaison in global patient outcomes and real world evidence, as well as Part-B medication market access consulting. She received her undergraduate degree in Pharmacy from the University of Nairobi in 2007, and her MBA-Strategic Management in 2011 from Jomo Kenyatta University, both in Kenya. She currently resides in Indianapolis.
